Siargao is one of those destinations that can be super action packed or completely relaxing and quiet! Either way one of the most popular and highly recommended activities is a day of island hopping. Siargao island hopping involves three main islands, Guyam, Daku and Naked Island. Below we document all the information needed for a fabulous day of island hopping!
Siargao Island Hopping Prices
First things first, how much does it all cost.
Well, that depends on whether you choose to do a private or group tour and who you choose to book through. Below we look at three scenarios.
During our time on Siargao we stayed at a 4 Star Hotel and decided it was easiest to book through them. We learnt afterwards that we paid much more than we should have seeing as Hotels in general can upmarket their tours. So for a 7 hour day including boat transfers, lunch, cold drinks we paid Php6000 (115USD) for a 2 person private tour.
It pays to do your research however. Later on we found out that it is possible to book an island hopping tour for Php1300 (35 USD) for two people. A lot of people recommend booking through Kermit Resort however as we did not do not we can not speak from our experience.
The other option is to just arrive to the main jetty in General Luna where locals will be offering to take you out. The price should be no more than Php1300 for a private boat. However, it will not include any food or drinks so perhaps buy a few things from the local market (in the same area) before heading out.
The Itinerary
Regardless of which tour company you choose to go with on your Siargao Island Hopping excursion, you can expect to visit Guyam, Daku and Naked Island. From General Luna, the main tourist part of Siargao, the islands are visible meaning you can expect to spend no longer than 20 – 30 minutes on board the boat (from one island to the next).
Guyam Island
Guyam Island is simply stunning . Shaped similar to a teardrop, this small island is the definition of a tropical paradise! With shallow emerald clear water, mini rockpools and numerous palm trees taking up majority of the island.
As it is possible to walk from one side of the island to the other in less than 50 steps you can imagine that there is not much to do other than relax!
Daku Island
Daku Island is the next stop on the island hopping tour. Much larger than the other two islands, Daku Island will most likely be the destination where lunch is served (and where you spend a few hours). It is also a great place to swim, climb palm trees and cuddle adorable puppies.
Depending on the tour that you have booked, the organiser may prepare lunch for you. Typically, this included fresh fish, pork, vegetables and fresh fruit. There are multiple huts on Daku Island making it the perfect spot to escape the main heat of the day!
If lunch is not included, there are however a few local beachside huts that serve cheap, local cuisine.
Naked Island
No where near as noticeable as the other two islands, Naked Island, is as the name suggest ‘Naked’. In other words, without any vegetation or life, unlike Guyam Island and Daku Island.
As Naked Island is very unique, you can see why it is quite the touristy spot! The island is small so it is not the typical location you would spend a large amount of time. It is definitely worth visiting though as the reef surrounding the island offers some beautiful snorkelling.
Overall Experience
Our day of island hopping was one of the main highlights during our time in Siargao. Each island was unique and beautiful for different reasons. It would be difficult to pick a favourite.
