As the Drone regulations in Dubai do not allow Drone operation without a license, we decided we had to find another way to see the city. That is how we ended up in a Seaplane with Seawings Tours Dubai!
There are a number of buildings in Dubai, including the Burj Khalifa which offer incredible views over the city. However, there is nothing as special as seeing the dramatic skyline from a seaplane. There are also a number of sights to see in Dubai, so why not tick off all the sightseeing in one go!
We did some research before getting to Dubai and found SeaWings Seaplane Tours, a company that operates a number of seaplane tours across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Below we will tell you about our fantastic experience with them.

Seawings Dubai commenced operation in 2007. Their idea was to allow individuals to witness the incredible and dramatic skyline for themselves. More recently, they have also commenced tours in Abu Dhabi as well as Exclusive Charters. The team of pilots are now amongst the most skilled seaplane pilots in the world.

There are two main seaplane tours which operate from Dubai. These are:
- The Ultimate Tour of Dubai (45 Minutes)
- The Seaplane Experience (20 Minutes)
Before choosing which tour you would like to do, it is best to decide what sites are most important to see. For us, we really wanted to see the World Islands and the Palm Jumeriah. For this reason we decided to take the 45 Minute Seaplane Tour.
Did you know, there are only two places in Dubai which allows you to see over the entire Palm Jumeirah? One is from a seaplane and one is from the Signature Suite at The Atlantis Palm Hotel.
Below is a map documenting the route of the 45 Minute Seaplane Tour.
// The Ultimate Tour of Dubai //
The 45 Minute tour departs from Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. From Downtown Dubai, where we were staying, it took 25 minutes to drive there. Depending on the time of your tour, the drive there may take longer during peak hour traffic.
An introduction about the tour will be provided at the reception area before being driven by golf cart to the seaplane. Including ourselves, there were nine people on the seaplane. The seats are positioned in rows of two, so regardless of where you sit, you will have a great view from the plane. There are however two premium seats (which cost more) that are located at the back of the seaplane.
As you take off from the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club the aircraft fly’s over Old Dubai. It is incredible to see Old Dubai in comparison to Downtown Dubai which is positioned in the distance on the left hand side of the aircraft. As the flight continues, guests will have a great view of Downtown Dubai, The World Islands, Dubai Canal, Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumairah and Palm Jebel Ali.
The pilot impressed us with how he navigated the Sea Plane. He ensured that for each major attraction such as the Burj Al Arab, the plane changed directions to allow for guests to be able to have the best view from the window closest to them.

It is important to remember that with few seats available on each seaplane, bookings are essential in advance. We actually arranged the tour a few weeks before arriving in Dubai and still there were limited seats available. If you are booking for a special occasion, remember to ask about the premium seats which are located at the back of the seaplane.
Sea Wings does not restrict children from flying, however, children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a paying adult. On the day of the flight, each guest must be able to provide valid ID (preferably passport) to the front desk.
