The Nam Hai situated in Hoi An, Vietnam truly blew our minds away. We would classify this resort as an all rounder – immaculate grounds, personalized service, picturesque setting and optimal privacy.
// The Resort, Nam Hai //
We spent five days at the Nam Hai towards the end of January. While this time of the year can see a bit of rain, the temperate is much more comfortable in comparison to the dry season (February – July). Rain would be a dampener on your stay at the Nam Hai seeing as the pool area is one of the biggest draw cards of this hotel. If you don’t enjoy the company of other people around the pool, most of the villas have private pools, which are in no way small and unappealing. We would highly recommend opting for a private pool if possible! Other draw cards include the high tea served around the pool area in the villa each day followed by some pre-evening canapés.
// The Room //
Our Villa consisted of three separate bungalow’s, two of them being bedrooms and the other a central living/lounge area. The overall space within the Villa is honestly fit for a King and Queen. The toughest decision each day was choosing whether to shower in the indoor or outdoor shower! Obviously, with each Villa generous in size the grounds of the overall property are large, so some rooms may be quite a walking distance from the main area of the resort.
// Hoi An Town //
Each day we ventured into Hoi An town which is only 15 minutes by car from the Nam Hai. Most dinners were spent in local restaurants as the food was tasty, well priced and traditional. If your after something more, we organised a cooking class with Red Bridge which was brilliant! Well it was actually more than a cooking class as they took us to the morning markets as on a river cruise to the grounds of the cooking school.
// The Verdict //
The Nam Hai would be in our top 5 hotels which we have stayed in. It is truly a luxurious experience! What made our visit to Hoi An so memorable was that we fully embraced the culture of the area while residing in a private oasis at the Nam Hai. Some 5 star hotels can have their downsides, but we can not name any for this hotel!
