There are many reasons why we fell in love with Slovenia. One of them being the picturesque nature, from Lakes to Rivers and Caves. Lake Jasna is no exception. Situated only 2 kilometres from the centre of Kranjska Gora, the Lake took our breathe away.
Lake Jasna
About the Lake
Lake Jasna consists of two artificial lakes with sandy patches around both of them making the location a perfect summer hangout. What attracted us to visit this Lake was the incredible mountain ranges which surround the Lakes.
From visiting Lake Jasna, we can tell you that the location is even more beautiful in person.
Location
As mentioned above, Lake Jasna is situated only 2 kilometres from the centre of Kranjska Gora. If driving, there are a number of parking spaces available at the Lake (approximately 40 car spaces). Alternatively, it is easy to walk to the Lake from Kranjska Gora centre. We also noticed that for tourists visiting during summer who have come to hike, Lake Jasna makes for the perfect stop at the end of the day.
Below is a map to show where Lake Jasna is located.
When to Visit
We visited Lake Jasna during summer. Obviously, as the area snows during the Winter months, the Lake would appear quite differently during those months.
Amenities
While the chilly temperate of the water may take a while to get used to, children will love jumping from the wooden piers and jumping tower! There are changing facilities and toilets available at the Lake if you have arrived after a day of hiking.
There are two cafes situated at Lake Jasna serving food throughout the day. At the Cafe closest to the Carpark we tried their pancakes and ice-chocolate. The ice-chocolate was served with a entire icecream (on a stick) so we have decided to rate it the best ice-chocolate we have had to date!!
If you are visiting Lake Jasna in the late afternoon, hang around for dinner at Pension Milka. This restaurant was our favourite during our stay in Kranjska Gora. Sit on the balcony and enjoy watching the sun set behind the mountains.
