// The Chedi //
The Chedi located in Muscat, Oman is an all round luxury 5 star hotel. We spent five nights here on our way back to Australia from Africa. It made for a relaxing stopover where we spent the days sipping cocktails and taking in the beautiful stretch of the Gulf of Oman.
// The Location //
The Chedi is located on the beachfront in the Al Khuwair neighbourhood of Muscat. From the hotel, it takes 15 minutes to reach the airport and 20 minutes to reach Old Muscat.
While it is worthwhile exploring Old Muscat we spent most of our time at The Chedi. This was due to the incredibly tasteful hotel facilities and the 40 degree July heat which is experienced in Muscat. Leaving the pool did not seem like a smart idea!
// The Hotel //
The hotel is adorned in a blend of Omani architecture with a touch of Asian influenced. When we entered reception, we were met by a beautiful arrangement of hanging lanterns before being whisked away to our room.
The hotel is spread over twenty-one acres of land. There are 158 rooms which are located in a large number of low-rise white buildings. The space in between the low-rise buildings is landscaped with foundation water gardens and immaculately pristine gardens.
We found the whole property to be very exclusive, even though there were a large number of rooms. This is most likely because there are a number of facilities spread across the grounds which definitely mean hotel visitors are not congregated around one main area.
// The Room //
We stayed in a Deluxe Club Room which was a 39sqm room overlooking one of the fountain water gardens. When we entered the room we arrived in the lounge area which was decorated with plush lounges and a selection of alcoholic spirits which were replenished daily as a room inclusion.
The bedroom was positioned off from the lounge and featured large floor to ceiling windows which overlooked the fountain. The fountain area was large and did ensure privacy within the room.
One of our favourite parts of the room was the bathroom fitted with a separate toilet, sunken bath and overhead shower.
By choosing to stay in a Club Room, we had access to a complimentary afternoon tea and pre-evening canapés. Previously, when we have stayed in hotels previously this additional cost usually included a sandwich or scone. At the Chedi however, the afternoon tea and pre-evening canapés were worth talking about (in a good way!).
// The Amenities//
We will start by saying that the Chedi has some of the most stylish pool areas. We say some, because there are three pools to choose from, including The Long Pool, which is a 103 metre pool. This makes it the longest in the region. There is a pool area for everyone, with the Serai pool being covered with awnings to protect you from the powerful Oman sun.
For lunch and dinner there are a number of in house dining options including a fine dining restaurant serving Western, Asian, Middle Eastern and Indian cuisines. There is also a beach restaurant and the Arabian courtyard. We dined at the fine dining restaurant twice, and will the atmosphere wasn’t overly exciting the food was definitely worth a revisit!
Additionally, being a guest at the Chedi means that you have access to the tennis courts and spa. We visited the spa for a massage and as per the rest of the hotel, it was beautifully decorated.
// The Verdict //
We loved our stay at The Chedi. For us, the architecture and interior styling of the hotel was flawless. On our next visit however, we would definitely choose to go between the months of September to March when it is not quite as hot as July!
