No matter what type of traveller you are, whether you enjoy adventure, relaxing, going off-the-beaten-track, Kyoto is a city that everyone should explore once in their lifetime. It is chaotic at times but also weirdly laid back. That is, as long as you know where to go and how to follow the local etiquette. Nonetheless, if you are there for 1 day or 3 days of 5 days, we believe the best place to stay in Kyoto is Hotel Granvia. Everything is literally at your doorstep!
With this in mind, we must thank Singapore Airlines for helping to organise our stay in Kyoto at Hotel Granvia.
Location of Hotel Granvia, Kyoto
Firstly, the location of this Hotel is one of it’s biggest selling points. As it is directly connected to Kyoto Station, the Hotel is perfectly situated to enjoy sightseeing of the City as well as being conveniently located to reach other parts of Japan.
Not only is access to the train station a breeze, but the city’s premier shopping centre is also in walking distance along with a range of restaurants and cafes. Really, without saying anything else, surely you can already start seeing why it is the best place to stay in Kyoto!
Services and Facilities
While there is an abundance of services and facilities at the
- A 20-metre indoor pool, far-infrared sauna, jacuzzi, and fitness gym available to hotel guests. Some guests will need to pay to use the facilities, for others it is included.
- 11 different restaurants and bars within the Hotel! These include Japanese, Chinese and French options. Don’t miss Gozanbo Teppanyaki Restaurant on Level 15.
- Granvia Lounge which allows for convenient check-out, tour booking assistance and a self-service snack and beverage station throughout the day. This is available to guests who opt for a room with access to the Lounge.
The Rooms at Hotel Granvia Kyoto
Hotel Granvia is Kyoto’s largest hotel with 536 rooms available. Do not be put off by the size of the hotel however as there are different wings, meaning it doesn’t feel as large as some high rise hotels!
There are various rooms to choose from including:
- Standard Rooms (Twin and Double)
- Superior Rooms (Twin and Double)
- Family Rooms
- Granvia Rooms (Twin, Double and Premium) + Access to Granvia Lounge
- 6 Suites
During our stay at Hotel Granvia we stayed in the Choraku Suite. Do yourself a favour and have a look at the link. We honestly felt like royalty staying in this Suite.
Located on the 15th floor of the Hotel, this suite offers a separate kitchen and lounge area, bedroom and a bathroom with separate bath and shower. It also features a private balcony and jacuzzi – making it very romantic! The best part, however, is the panoramic views of Kyoto with Kyoto Tower in the foreground and the mountains in the distance. Designed by a famous Kyoto interior designer, the room is decorated neutrally and strikes a pleasant balance between contemporary design and traditional Japanese design.
With this in mind, can you now see why Hotel Granvia is the best place to stay in Kyoto?!
